Adam Crabtree, RP, is a trainer of psychotherapists and has a private therapy practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, He is author of From Mesmer to Freud: Magnetic Sleep and the Roots of Psychological Healing, Multiple Man: Explorations in Possession and Multiple Personality, Trance Zero: Breaking the Spell of Conformity, Evolutionary Love and the Ravages of Greed, and The Land of Hypnogogia. He is also coauthor of Irreducible Mind: Toward a Psychology for the 21st Century, and he is coeditor of Beyond Physicalism: Toward Reconciliation of Science and Spirituality.

Here he proclaims his belief that Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 – 1900) was the greatest philosopher of all time, because he understood more clearly than anyone else how previous philosophies and institutions undermined human freedom and human possibility. He highlights Nietzsche’s emphasis on the importance of psychological depth. He also reviews various biographical details and compares Nietzsche’s philosophy with that of his contemporary (although they never met) C. S. Peirce.
