Chetanananda Philosophy of Tantric Yoga I

This video is a special release from the original Thinking Allowed series that ran on public television from 1986 until 2002. It was recorded in about 1993.

Swami Chetanananda is author of Dynamic Stillness, and The Breath of God.  Here he points out that contemporary westerners often mistakenly believe that tantric yoga is essentially a sexual practice.  Actually, tantra need not involve any sexual activities.  The essence of tantra is a focus on life energy or “kundalini” associated with the nervous system, with the mind, and with the environment.
