The Origin and Destiny of LifewithBruce Damer

Books Mentioned In This Interview

Bruce Damer, PhD, is coauthor with David Deamer, of a new theory on the origins of life that was featured in a Scientific American cover story in 2017. His professional interests also include space exploration, virtual reality, and entheogens. He is author of Avatars: Exploring and Building Virtual Worlds on the Internet.

He begins this wide-ranging discussion by describing a series of visionary experiences that began in his childhood. He describes the significance of membranes in the evolution of life on earth — and how the same principle can be applied to the migration of humans into outer space. He discusses his involvement with counter-culture figures such as Terence McKenna as well as his use of entheogens. He argues that consciousness is best understood by carefully observing nature.
