Dr. Timothy E. Eastman discovered the low-latitude boundary layer of Earth’s magnetosphere and, with more than 40 years of experience in research and consulting, has published over 100 research papers in space physics, philosophy and related fields.

Summary: My recent book, Untying the Gordian Knot (UGK; Lexington Books 2020), proposes a new framework for rethinking the fundamental nature of reality; one that takes into account our best current understanding of quantum physics and everyday reality (most often described via classical physics, which is an approximation of quantum physics). Building on past scholarship that highlights a distinction between actuality and possibility within the scope of ontological ‘real’ entities, UGK’s Logoi framework hypothesizes two fundamental, mutually implicative orders of reality: a pre-space order (prior to space-time) governed by a distinctive non-Boolean logic of potential relations (potentiae); and a space-time order (subject to space-time metric descriptions) governed by a distinctive Boolean logic of actualizations. To the extent that our minds may at times enable episodes of accessing the order of potentiae (with its wholistic order), such episodes may appear as various forms of psi phenomena.
