Modern Materialism and the Loss of SoulwithTodd Hayen

Books Mentioned In This Interview

Todd Hayen, PhD, is author of Ancient Egypt and Modern Psychotherapy: Sacred Science and the Search for Soul. He is a psychotherapist in private practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Here he suggests that a major symptom of modernity is that western humans have lost touch with the common bonds of interconnection. We are alienated from each other. Different political groups demonize each other. Hayen sees depth psychology as offering a solution to this dilemma for individuals. However, for culture as a whole, other measures are needed. He suggests that esoteric traditions have much to offer.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.
