This video is a special release from the original Thinking Allowed series that ran on public television from 1986 until 2002. It was recorded in about 1996.

Stanislav Grof has been a professor of psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies.  With his wife, Christine, he is founder of Grof Holotropic Training. He is author of Beyond the Brain, LSD Psychotherapy, The Adventure of Self Discovery and The Cosmic Game. 

Here he points out that ethics is a fundamental concern of the holotropic experiencer. Ethical exploration can penetrate many layers of the psyche — the personal, the biological, and the transpersonal. One can come to see the necessity for both good and apparent evil in the world. This exploration can take on new dimensions of compassionate awareness as one enters into states of identification with creative forces larger than the ego itself.
