Dreaming and Embodied ImaginationwithRobert Bosnak

Books Mentioned In This Interview

Robert Bosnak, PsyA, is a Jungian psychoanalyst who graduated from the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich in 1977. He pioneered the Embodied Imagination method, and his current interest is focused on exploring Embodied Intelligence (MQ). He is a Past President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams and founder of the Santa Barbara Healing Sanctuary. Robert has written A Little Course In Dreams and Embodiment: Creative Imagination in Medicine, Art and Travel. Most recently he has written an alchemical novel in four volumes titled Red Sulphur. Here he notes that all dreams entail embodied imagination insofar as dreamers feel themselves to be in an actual place with an actual body of some sort. He describes his method of working with dreams. It entails activating a “flashback” of the dream that leads his clients and students right back into their dream experience. He describes his approach as one of radical agnosticism, insofar as he (unlike Freud or Jung) holds no particular position regarding the nature or structure of the psyche. He expresses more interest in the lived experience of the dream than its interpretation.
