Alan Ross Hugenot, EngrScD, is a nautical engineer as well as a spiritualist minister and medium. He is author of The New Science of Consciousness Survival: And the Metaparadigm Shift to a Conscious Universe and also The Death Experience: What It Is Like When You Die. He is a former board member of the International Association for Near-Death Studies.

Here he describes the near-death experience he had in 1970 – at a time when the medical profession did not understand such phenomena. He also describes his training, with two different spiritualist institutions, to become a facilitator of communication between the living and the deceased. He discusses various scientific approaches to understanding post-mortem survival.
