Understanding PrejudicewithPrice Cobbs (1928 – 2018)

Books Mentioned In This Interview

This video is a special release from the original Thinking Allowed series that ran on public television from 1986 until 2002. It was recorded in about 1992.

Psychiatrist Price M. Cobbs was president of Pacific Management Systems in San Francisco.  He is co-author of The Jesus Bag and Black Rage.  While prejudice and stereotyping are natural functions of the brain in coping with a threatening environment, he says, we must consciously work to overcome the lazy mental habits that cause us to fail to treat human beings of different races, genders, religious and ethnic groups and handicaps as unique individuals.
