Books Mentioned In This Interview

leanne whitney consciousness in jung and patanjali

Leanne Whitney, PhD, is author of Consciousness in Jung and Patanjali. She is a transformational coach and also teaches yoga philosophy to yoga teachers. Her website is https://leannewhitney.com/.

Here she describes the feminine as a psychological and spiritual principle that is not necessarily correlated with gender. (She describes New Thinking Allowed as embodying the feminine principle.) She notes that mother is associated with matter and earth godesses. Masculinity is associated mythologically with spirit and with sky gods. In yoga philosophy the feminine is associated with prakriti, a sanskrit work denoting anything manifest. Perusha is associated with masculinity and denotes the unmanifest consciousness.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.
